Below is an announcement from SSQA (Sunshine State Quilters Association) calling for help from Florida quilters. Our Studio is proud to assist with the effort. Luana Rubin from equilter.com posted on her blog the information from Mission of Love. The call to action for quilters to assist with sending much needed comfort quilts to the people in Japan who are suffering in the wake of the disaster.

QUILTS for JAPAN
WHO: To aid the victims of the earthquakes disaster…men, women and children.
SSQA will ship the quilts to Mission of Love to be included in a container of relief supplies.
WHAT: Quilts of any size…may be new or used in good, clean condition
Tops with backing included 3 to 4 inches larger all the way around…please pre-wash flannel before measuring!
Batting should be 3 to 4 inches larger than the quilt top, pieced batting is fine as long as pieces are similar weight.
WHERE: Quilts may be mailed or delivered to

WHEN: Before the end of April…this is a fast-moving, one-time Outreach project!
>Bring quilts or tops to Symposium/ SSQA meeting in Tampa April 6—10
> Send or deliver tops to Wandering Stitches before April 15 for workday on April 17
> send or deliver quilts to arrive at Wandering Stitches before April 30
HOW: SSQA is paying for all the thread and needles, plus shipping all the donations to Mission of Love
Ask your friends or guild to help…all Florida quilters may participate!
A workday on Sunday April 17 from 1:00 to 5:00 is being sponsored at
Wandering Stitches (call 407-658-4044). If you are certified to run the long arm machines, come and help quilt the donated tops. Everyone can help with the binding, and other finishing work.
